pencil icon   HUMAN AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

#########

 FORWARD: Technological Development- Communications

Of all the innovations, inventions, discoveries and developments in the history of mankind there are four that have completely altered the way that human kind and the world community interrelated.

The first was before recorded time - the formation of language - allowing one person to communicate with another - the creation of community.

The second was between 5 and 6 thousand years ago - the development of written language - allowing humans to pass knowledge down through the generations - the accumulation of knowledge.

The third was in 1455 AD - the invention of the printing press - the ability to cheaply and quickly mass produce books, making them available to the whole population - the dissemination of knowledge.

The fourth is now - the Internet - the ability to communicate with the world in a key - stroke - creation of the "world community".
Keith Jennison - JennTech, Inc

And at every step along the way there are those who have gained power and gathered riches. Those were the people who were at the right place at the right time - but more importantly, they were the ones who knew when the right idea, concept or opportunity had come their way and capitalized on it.

"Timing favors those venturing into this new realm as quickly as possible,
and as smartly as possible". -
Steve Harmon, Zero Gravity

There is no doubt that you've heard all kinds of hype about the Internet and how millions of dollars are being made online. If you're like most people, you're probably more than a little suspicious about all you've heard and find it easy to pass it off as so much nonsense. Fortunately, You'd be wrong.

"New Business opportunities abound, and the people who stumbled during the first Net Gold Rush are scrambling to make sure they don'tt miss the second one. If you think Net Biz is moving at the speed of light now, get ready for warp factor three.
" The Future Is At Hand. From The Industry Standard by Mark Frauenfelder.

In January 1993, most Americans outside of government and academic circles were completely unaware of the Internet, as it then existed. In January 1993, there were approximately 1,313,000 websites on the Internet. Perhaps fewer than 900,000 people worldwide used the net at that time on a regular basis. By the close of 1999, more than 72,390,000 websites existed. Today the total number of users worldwide is well over 1.5 Billion with North America supplying over 238 million of those users.

That is correct, currently, industry experts estimated that more than 888 million people worldwide were using the net on a frequent basis for business, research, shopping, personal correspondence, social interactions, entertainment, listening to radio, and communications and information-sharing and various functions of every description.

The business world has benefited immensely from the evolution of the Internet. Not only has the Internet facilitated not only communications between businesses and consumers, but most importantly between individuals themselves.

The Internet created a new medium for business. This new business opportunity, electronic commerce, or e-commerce, is opening the doors for new business ventures to be initiated. For those wanting to gain an instant business presence, the Internet is a direct portal to millions of users and potential customers around the world, and the best part is it's on all year long. The Internet enabled new business ideas to flourish online and for traditional business models to break new ground.

All those involved in the Internet e-commerce revolution benefited from the creation of new business ventures and business relationships, which keeps the U.S. Economy vibrant, strong and healthy for the future.

######### THE "E"-CONOMY TODAY- INTERNET INDUSTRY STATISTICS

*Why is the Internet able to provide all the benefits for business and individuals?

First the internet is geographically insensitive. It is no harder and no more expensive to reach a person on the other side of the planet than to reach someone in the same city. Second, the internet is quick, far quicker than conventional mail. Third, the internet combines the characteristics of both mass and personal communications media: with a few key strokes it can provide access to one or two users to millions. Finally, information on the internet is available 24 hours a day. Access it at your convenience.- Consumer Quarterly Jan. 1997 Vol# 21

######### According to Stacy Lawrence author of The Agony and the Ecstasy of the Internet,

"The Internet Economy made significantprogress ingraining itself into the daily lives of consumers and businesses. In 2000 the online population grew to encompass nearly half of Americans. The net became an integral part of their lives. People at home spent an average of 10 hours online per month, an increase of 23% over last year".

Whether it's for consumer-facing, back-end processes or marketing, technology and its management are the keys to online retailer's success.

With e-retail sales exploding - shoppers spent $165.9 million in 2007, up 21.6% from 2006 - retailers need to find technology vendors that can take their front-end customer touch points - the e-commerce platform, site design and site search - to the next level. By doing so, retailers can install applications and devise marketing and merchandising strategies that will enable them to compete more effectively for new customers, and grow their sales from repeat customers.

"Tighten your seatbelt and prepare for the
   greatest boom in history!"

The fact is, there is really no reason why, given the tremendous growth of e-business, anyone should be left behind. There is absolutely nothing to fear in operating a successful business on the Internet but the fear of just getting started. Business-to-Consumer (B2C) is exactly what is fueling the profits on the Internet. B2C e-commerce is quite simply defined as businesses selling goods and service to consumers via the Internet.

According to Giga Information Group and eMarketer, online spending though healthy, will hit a stable plateau within the next few years. Yet before huge profits being gained through e-commerce stabilize, there are vast profit centers that remain untapped or not maximized to the full potential. When you examine the predicted trends for e-commerce for the next 5 years, one cannot help to foresee that huge profits and vast amount of dollars will continue to be spent online. Now is the time to build a solid foundation for the exciting future of success the Internet offers.

Online revenues passed $48 billion by the end of 2000, and continued to increase to $233 billion in 2004. In the first quarter of 2000, U.S. consumers spent $13.8 billion over the phone and in stores as a direct result of shopping conducted on the Internet. By the end of 2005, $632 billion is being spent offline as a result of research conducted on the Internet about a product or store.

The reciprocal benefit that the Internet provides the traditional economy is glue that not only repaired an ailing economy in the early 1990's, but has also offered new ways for exciting new products to gain access to customers via the new e- business market. With the invention of the Internet and the subsequent rise of website business, e-commerce has become a major force in the sales of virtually any product, service, idea, or invention.

With all those individuals online prospering in business and capitalizing on the benefits of operating an Internet Business, why hasn't everyone obtained a website to start creating their own future? The customers and the interest is out there, all that is needed is for each person to find the right opportunity for them to chart their own future.

The Internet exploded into our vocabulary and our lives.
There is still a window of opportunity with the Internet.

Don't let it pass you by!

That was what people are buying online, but where are they finding these products and websites? Search engines are a prime marketing target. Chances are a search engine recently helped you find something as well. By far Google leads all search engines, but that does not mean you register with only Google.

When you begin the process of targeting your marketing much like a hunter or fisher, you have to know where the fish are biting if you are going to catch anything. Knowing which search engine people use most is the first tool in the fisherman's arsenal. The second is knowing which Home Page portal the majority of people use. If 62% of people start their internet day with a Yahoo Home Page, then 62% of targeting 62% of marketing dollars to Yahoo might not be a terrible idea.

Being able to see into the future is a trick few possess. But there are those that have made a career out of studying the trends to know what will be the next big thing. Looking to the experts for advice is a good thing to do. They know the history and history repeats itself.

People much like history repeat themselves. The expansion of the internet across the continent and globe has pushed the concept of selling to the world from a mere thought to an everyday possibility.

Everyday history is being made a more and more countries, cities, and individuals gain access to the internet. While there are over 700 million internet users in the North American continent, that makes up under 20% of the worlds internet users. There exists another 280 million people that can be reached with the global internet expansion.

Across the world, the internet has become a central figure and tool of the modern age. It is almost essential for business and quick communication. It is so crucial to our lives it has spawned its own virtual communities. Such as World of Warcraft, Face Book, MySpace, YouTube, and the king of all communities, eBay.

The internet has its own advertising department. It took a while to get figured out, but advertising on the internet is everything that advertising on broadcast television is. Whole campaigns are designed around the internet.

But the "Be all, End all" of internet communities is eBay. eBay is the prime example of making something out of nothing. The idea of moving what was a historically a brick and mortar operation to the internet facilitated business development at a tremendous pace. Now eBay is the place to buy and sell merchandise. Anyone can do it, they just have to learn how.
